History & Accomplishments
Founded in November, 1971 by Drs. Jack and Verna Wool, on a little more than a shoestring, the Lighthouse has managed not only to survive, but to grow into one of the most needed and useful organizations in town.
In the last seven years, the Lighthouse has begun numerous new programs, most of which are still currently in operation. The Lighthouse is seen in the community as an agency that is looking for new and innovative approaches to the needs of our community and as an agency that looks to meet the unmet needs around us.
The Lighthouse maintains quality assurance through the process of supervision, monitoring, evaluation and the compliance with the requirements of accreditation and certification. The Lighthouse follows a system of continuous quality improvement which is accomplished by setting forth a set of performance criteria, measuring performance against these criteria, and taking appropriate and timely corrective action based on the measurement results.
